Customer Review: HP LaserJet 2420DN is a workhorse
I ordered three of these printers for my workplace and we've been using them for over a year. Their performance has been flawless and they use toner sparingly. The body of the printer seems very rugged and they connect to our network easily. They have a web configuration interface that is password-protected and encrypted, something that is important if you need to have the printer accessible from outside your local network. The only minor issue I've encountered is this: occasionally one of the printers pauses and won't restart until I manually reset it. I haven't determined if this is a user issue or if it's a printer issue. I suspect it's a user issue, so I wouldn't let this detract from my review.

Work in a CPA office and use this printer everyday. Has 96,000 copies on it and no problems. Word of caution, at 100,000 copies, the machine needs a new fuser and laser which is almost the same cost of the machine new..... I would buy another one again.
Customer Review: Bad support and waranty
The MFC-8460N worked well for two months and I was very happy with it. Then one day it just break down, and will not power on. I called and they said they will send a replacement; so I waited ... About two week later, not receiving the replacement, I called back and they said they had to verify the address. Another two week or so went by, still not receiving the replacement, I called and again they wanted to verify address again. Then again, still not receiving the replacement, so I called and for the third time they again needed to verify the address. I demanded to talk to the manager. He promised to send the replacement overnight; and I received the printer within two days. Unfortunately the replacement did not work either -- the paper kept being jam every single time! That would be the last Brother printer I would ever buy.

I bought a Brother HL-5250DN Network Ready Laser Printer with Duplex (Black and White only) in late 2008 and have been very happy with it. I wanted a black and white laser printer so I wouldn't have to use my "other brand" color laser or color ink jet because they are so expensive to run. Then, this month, my color laser brought down and I realized I could buy this Brother laser color printer for less than the price of fixing my old one. So, I did. I've had it a week and I can tell already that I'll be using it a lot. I am currently a student and have to create color products for class quite frequently. This makes it easy and it's way less expensive than my other one. THe colors are great, the printing is crisp and FAST! It's easy to load the cartridges and paper. We had it set up in minutes. I can't say enough about both these printers. I'm so glad I added these two "Brothers" to my family!

Very happy with this. Amazon had a $120 instant rebate on this making it $293 shipped next day air. Not bad for a 74lb box. Vista drivers were included and setup was a snap. Black text is sharp and crisp, with better photos than I expected - just set the print preferences -> Advanced to 2400 dpi mode (in Windows, not on the printer itself). It did miss out some lines on a small graph, but this is also corrected by the "improve thin lines" option in the printer driver. Overall a bargin with the rebate - pretty much the same price as the toner.
